DMZ
DMZ Theater – the past in action

At the DMZ Theater, you will have an opportunity to watch a short 7-8 minute video about the Korean conflict. The video provides a South Korean perspective on the Korean War, how the DMZ came about, and today’s current situation. It also gives some background to the infiltration tunnels that North Korea dug. Having just had the opportunity to walk through the 3rd Infiltration Tunnel, it should be pretty enlightening.

DMZ Exhibition Hall – the best place for history lovers

The next point on your DMZ experience is the Exhibition Hall. Here, you will see some key artefacts to give you a better understanding of our bitter history. Containing photos, documents, and some remnants from the past, a walk through the Exhibition Hall will provide you with a deeper and more visual knowledge of the conflict. There are many exhibits on display and some interesting facts for history buffs.

The Third Tunnel
A stop not to be missed on our itinerary is the 3rd Infiltration Tunnel. Located 12 kilometres away from Munsan and 52 from Seoul, the tunnel was discovered in 1978.

Its purpose was to be used to invade the south. At 1,635 meters long, 2 meters high and 2 wide, the tunnel has the capacity of moving an entire division per hour!

The curious fact here is that when the tunnel was discovered, North Korea alleged that the south had built it for a surprise attack, but evidence points to the contrary. Walking through will feel like you’ve stepped back in time!

30 minutes • Admission Ticket Included

Dora Observatory
Enjoy clear views at Dorasan Observatory

Sitting at the top of Dorasan, the Observatory is ideal for looking across the border. This is the part closest to the North and is one of travelers’ favorite highlights on the tour! So get a once-in-a-lifetime look at isolated North Korea on our Half Day DMZ tour!

Use the high powered binoculars on the third floor for extra precision. You will be able to see the North’s propaganda village located right inside the DMZ and see as far as Gaesong, the ninth-largest city in North Korea. If you’re lucky to be here on a clear day, you’ll get to see the bronze statue of Kim Il-sung, too!

Dorasan Observatory was recently rebuilt and opened on October 22, 2018. The changes made it both higher and gave it a better angle. Now, you get the added bonus of seeing an uninhibited view of Kijong-dong, Gaesong city, and Gaesong Industrial complex!

A good experience

It's definitely a must! Our guide 강문향 did a great job explaining all the history about Korea's division and touching our hearts showing us how sadly war separated so many families. We hope North and South can be reunificated as one Korea and koreans can live together in peace. If you want to know quite interesting things about Korea's history and see a little bit of North Korea's landscape you need to do this tour, just keep in mind that you need to walk a lot and going through the tunnel it can be tiring. A reccomendation: Try out the soybean ice cream, is vegan and its delicious! Thank you, Moon, if I'll travel once again to Korea I hope you can guide us again!
Awesome

SUCH A GREAT EXPERIENCE ( SOLO TRAVEL APPROVED)

I do not like doing tours at all in my traveling, but being with TEAM NANCY made me think twice. As a tour guide she was very welcoming, friendly, insightful, professional, and of course delightful to have showing us the history of the land. Nancy was always there for us and never once did I feel neglected nor pushed around. Each location was given enough time to venture out and explore. Great for solo travelers as well. Having Nancy as my guide made me really enjoy my time there! She gets a 5 out of 5!

The only thing that I will say that can throw a wrench is your fellow travelers. The only thing to consider is that DEPENDING on you group ( not the guide) determines how much time you can have at each location. So if part of your group doesn't listen and chooses to be late, it will have an effect on the tour. This would be the only frustrating part, for Nancy is loving and sweet and really wants you to experience the DMZ tour. So when she states to be back at a certain time, try to rally everyone that you make see slacking. During my time, there were a handful of people that didn't care about being late which to me was disrespectful. You can also see that Nancy was saddened that some people just looked at their phones and just took their time to get on the bus which to me was disrespectful. Nancy is trying her very best to give an experience. So best advice for anyone booking is that if you see people slacking, call them out. This tour is fantastic and you don't want to miss anything.

Final thing would be to be fluid with your schedule. Do not choose this package if your flight is on the same day! I seen that some people chose to do this tour and planned to be back at the airport at a certain time. NOTE: that the DMZ times are not always guaranteed and that your group can make you miss a set time which will result in a later entrance to the DMZ. For example my group failed to meet so we had to wait around for an hour.

PLEASE BE RESPECTFUL TO YOUR TOUR GUIDE AND EVERYONE'S TIME.
